VTG Maytag Dairy Farms Heavy Green Glass Sanitary Cheese Preserver With Lid. Does have one small chip and several flea bites you can feel around the rim of the bottom. The Sanitary Cheese Preserver is a heavy glass storage container used to store cheese in the early 20th century. It has a thick glass chamber with raised petitions in the bottom to hold the cheese. The lid is also glass and has directions embossed on the glass. The original cheese preservers were made by U.S. Glass Company from 1928 up until around 1939 and then made by the Cambridge Glass Co. from about 1940 until 1953. The preserver is about 7.5" wide across the top and tapers to about 7" wide at the based. The top says to remove lid daily. Keep cheese in foil, parchment or waxed paper. Put plain water in the bottom and change twice weekly. Maytag Dairy Farms. Newton Iowa. Other than the small chip and flea bites, this container is in great vintage condition.
